Beautiful Cavities is an installation that deals with a perceived pathogenicity in western
societies in an age of immense medical and welfare progresses. It is specifically focusing on
the role internet is playing in this. The work is a reflection on this and uses Trypophobia –
a proposed phobia that first emerged on the internet a few years ago, yet fails to meet the
essential criteria for being classified as such – to explore and touch on themes such societal
hypochondria and anxiety.
